“I have never been afraid of the dark and I am growing in my awareness that I was sent here to be a healer. My life’s work began in childhood when I began to see things that others often overlooked. I would notice that certain kids weren’t asked to play and didn’t get to have special treats packed in their lunch boxes from loving parents. At recess I remember being drawn to these rejected children who were facing so many of life’s challenges prior to adulthood and was surprised by how comfortable I felt offering them a shoulder to lean on. Since that time I have continued to seek out what I call my ‘trampled flower’ or those beautiful souls who have been hit hard by life to offer support, healing and love.”
Leslie Brown identifies as a Community Coach that is focused on introducing and integrating coaching approaches in communities that have been heavily impacted by trauma. In her practice she seeks to partner with next generation leaders – those who think differently about solutions to address our most difficult world issues, those who are working to design innovative systems of support for communities. She believes that moving beyond traditional approaches will revolutionize the way that people work and thrive. “I have dedicated my life to support communities to identify new leadership, increase diversity of voice and choice, incorporate empowerment strategies and promote best practices that support transformation.”
Prior to earning her coaching certification Leslie worked in the nonprofit capacity building sector, supporting projects and teams that promoted social justice -- she has a background in leadership development, youth development and evaluation. “What brought me to the field of coaching was the idea of aligning my strengths to support next generation leaders.”
Leslie holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan. In her free time, Leslie enjoys finding new adventures through traveling, eating delicious food and spending time with family and friends. She also loves laughing, painting and watching Netflix.
