Biography “I believe we can all change and grow, and that our desire to grow needs to be stronger than our fear of change. I see growth as a spiral stairway, leading inward. As we find ways to lay down our armor and masks, the patterns that once sustained us can be replaced by new patterns that sustain the growth and change we desire. As we move closer to knowing ourselves and our deepest desires, we are available for authentic collaboration and liberation.”

Imani (she/her/ella) works primarily with educators and social justice advocates. These are folks who are teaching faculty, school administrators, equity practitioners and Jewish community professionals. They often juggle multiple personal and professional demands and are pinned down by the work of dismantling unjust and oppressive systems that fail to affirm the worth of marginalized people and undermine the humanity of those who are centered. Imani co-creates a sacred space with clients where she and her clients explore their inner and ancestral wisdom to restore balance, achieve clarity and experience renewal. Clients often remark on Imani’s deep presence, sense of hope and the depth of inquiry.

For more than 20 years, Imani has been engaged in education and social justice work, developing systems that foster greater accountability, facilitating the implementation of leadership protocols, building teams and developing leadership curricula for adolescents and adults as well as facilitating cross-cultural dialogues.

Some of Imani’s accomplishments include:
• Appearing on Good Morning America to discuss sexual harassment of high school girls;
• Co-founding Sisters of Color in Education, a professional community in New York City;
• Co-authoring a chapter in “UnCommon Bonds: Women Reflect on Race and Friendship” (Lang, 2018);
• Co-chairing the Race Task Force at Kolot Chayeinu: Voices of Our Lives Synagogue;
• Teaching and leading for more than 20 years in independent schools; and
• Developing curricula to explore and support anti-racist conversations in Jewish spaces.

Imani enjoys cooking with her daughter, dancing with her wife and laughing and traveling with her family, especially to places where they can be bathed in the sights, sounds and smells of afrolatinidad.
