Sharon Brown, MS, PCC
"As a child, I felt deep compassion when people were hurt, and I felt angry when they were not treated fairly. This came full circle for me when I left the corporate world and discovered my authentic, spiritual self and right livelihood as a coach. Spending weekends in volunteer workshops with prisoners caught in the injustice of poverty, oppression and mass incarceration touched me deeply and sparked passion and commitment to share my coaching skills in support of people working to create more equitable and caring communities."
Drawing on years of corporate experience, Sharon Brown trains coaches and teaches coaching skills in workplace, school and community settings that enhance communication and collaboration, as well as catalyze transformation and action.
In addition to teaching coaching skills to aspiring professional and community coaches, Sharon is working to bring coaching skills and services to underserved communities. Sharon’s commitment to serving communities and their residents spills over into her personal life where she co-led a women’s circle at a homeless shelter, is an Alternatives to Violence Project lead prison workshop facilitator, and served on non-profit boards focused on community development and collaborative communication.
“Training coaches and sharing coaching skills with community leaders, educators and residents is exciting for me. As people learn and apply the skills in their settings, relationships change and possibilities for creative and collaborative efforts grow. It is rewarding to help people learn skills that can support them to co-create and advocate for the changes they want to see in their communities and in the world.”
Sharon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College and a Masters of Science degree from Rutgers University. She became a Certified Professional Coach through Coaching for Transformation. She is an active member of the New Jersey Professional Coaches Association and the International Coach Federation. In her spare time Sharon loves to read, garden, spend time in nature and hang out with family and friends.
