I was a child of World War II, raised in the disruption, addiction, and abuse of a dysfunctional white, urban, Texas family – oblivious to the social dysfunction in my home and social inequality in the world around me. I grew up with the social turbulence and unrest of anti-war protests and social liberation and civil-rights movements during the 60s and 70s……and the violence, racism, sexism, poverty, and social injustice that was becoming so visible then and continues still.
I bring a social-justice consciousness to coaching. I am in the world as partner, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, trainer, group-facilitator, organization development practitioner, author, university professor, and economist. I am a white, heterosexual, gender-conforming, man, US national, military veteran, elder, and survivor of incest. I am co-editor of NTL Handbook of Organization Development and Change and NTL Reading Book for Human Relations Training and a member of four professional networks – NTL Institute, Leadership that Works, White Men as Full-Diversity Partners, and Coaches for Equality and Diversity – all of which include coaching and have social justice at their core.
Our Mission is to develop transformational coaches and facilitators who empower evolutionary leaders and social entrepreneurs to develop sustainable, collaborative organizations. We take a stand for whole person transformation, and bring diverse voices into the field, developing multicultural competencies in coaching and facilitation. Read More
