Prerequisite: Coaching Essentials, Community Coaching Certification or Coaching for Transformation.

    Overview

Expand the reach of your coaching skills to address change and support the empowerment of communities at this key moment. You will learn alongside peers who share your commitment to change, healing, and transformation for communities and the people in those communities.

Dimensions of Community Coaching draws on the power of coaching to support deep change, healing, and organizational sustainability and transformation. It integrates a coaching approach that creates connection, builds relationships and helps others see possibilities beyond the limitations and barriers that are too-often present in our communities.

Leadership that Works (LTW) is an innovator in the coaching field and is a long-time advocate for shifting the focus of the coaching sector from an exclusive executives-only benefit to a widely accessible skill for everyone. Our students choose us because they want to coach from a place of authenticity, compassion and their commitment to social change.

LTW-certified coaches integrate coaching into organizations and nonprofits serving many different types of needs—housing, prison re-entry, health and wellness, immigration, education, government, end-of-life, equity and diversity, gun violence, and environmental advocacy to name some. Our coaches are part of and work with individuals and communities with a wide range of identities—youth, LGBTQ, Black, Indigenous and other people of color, elders, and incarcerated people, to name a few.

If you are longing to live in the empowering space of what’s possible, to move in a space of expansive community rather than simply bringing answers, to show up in curiosity believing in the wholeness of the community, join us for a transformative experience with community coaching.

    Objectives

    • You will expand and build upon your coaching skills to apply them to create more human and equitable communities and organizations. You will expand and build upon your coaching skills by focusing on the applications of coaching skills in organizational and community settings. You will explore and gain skills in:
      • Navigating complex situations using a coaching approach to gain insight and clarity.
      • Group coaching, as well as 1:1, informal applications, and enhancement of your coach’s stand.
      • Awareness of and using trauma-informed approaches for both the coach and the communities in which you serve.
      • Support for the disruption of power, privilege, oppression, and moving towards more equitable and just communities.
      • Envisioning authentic and grounded action and creating steps toward goals.
      • Creating cultures of connectedness and collaboration.
      • Creating space for diverse perspectives and welcoming them as essential to creative problem solving.
    • In collaboration with other coaches, you will have the opportunity to focus on your vision for community and how coaching can support that vision.
    • You will experience and practice coaching in both one-to-one and group settings, giving you the opportunity to build on your skills to integrate coaching in a variety of new situations.

    Learning Community

You will meet with fellow coaches and participate in a virtual learning space that focuses on the application of coaching skills and mindset to build and support the empowerment of communities. Throughout the program, guest coaches will join and share their direct experiences of practicing, promoting, and embedding coaching in their particular communities or organizations. Join a diverse cohort of coaches from the non-profit, education, social justice, and private sectors where you will experience an interactive and supportive learning community.
