Martha Lasley - websiteMartha Lasley, MBA, PCC

“At my first international coaching conference in 1997, I saw very little racial, cultural or economic diversity in coaches or their clients. I began to wonder if the coaching profession was deepening the divide between those who have means and those who do not. Fortunately, I discovered how the journey of personal transformation naturally expands our innate desire for social change—which became the foundation of my coaching work.

“Today I'm proud to be part of the evolving coaching profession, where we actively make coach training available to people who traditionally don’t have access to coaching. As a result, I get to work with movers, shakers and changemakers who have visions that rock! I love working with social entrepreneurs to make their visions real.”

As a founder of Leadership that Works, Martha has developed world-class programs and has taught coaching and facilitation to leaders across Europe, Asia and the Americas for 20 years. She has reached more than 5,000 change agents who in turn facilitate groups to discover personal and organization transformation. Martha also mentors leaders of organizations to develop a coaching culture that shifts the dynamics so that people are empowered at all levels.

Martha has an MBA from Syracuse University, is a certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication and is a professional member of the Indian Society for Applied Behavioral Science. A leading expert in the Organization Development field, Martha has a deep passion for continuously learning more about power, privilege, rank and culture.

She is an author of three books: Coaching for Transformation: Pathways to Ignite Personal and Social Change; Facilitating with Heart; and Courageous Visions: How to Unleash Passionate Energy in Your Life and Your Organization. She served on the faculty and coached MBA students at Capella University for 10 years.

Martha advocates for the coaching profession to go beyond the personal conversations for the privileged few, and contribute to the evolution of humanity. Today coaching in organizations acts as a springboard for coaches and their clients to address the social, economic, environmental, and political challenges of our times. Leadership that Works is a trailblazer in taking coaching skills into arenas where they are needed most: developing nations, under-resourced communities, marginalized groups, and more.

Martha takes great pleasure in organic gardening, healing soil, cooking, and hanging out with family.
